Imagine this: You’re an Iranian immigrant migrating to the United States in hopes of a better life, all alone with nothing but a backpack at the age of 13. You leave behind your mom and sister, and make the journey to the United States to meet your Dad, who was already living here, with only the HOPE of opportunity. We’re not done yet, there’s more. Then, unexpectedly, your Dad has to move back to Iran to help the rest of your family come over, so then you’re stuck in a foreign country not really speaking the language just yet, with an uncle, but more or less, basically alone. This is the real story of Sam Asghari, the one that no one talks about. The struggles, the perseverance, the determination, the positivity, the hope…everything that ultimately led him to becoming an actor.

“I’m coming from a country that is completely opposite of the United States with its restrictions on freedom and opportunities,” says Asghari. “But I have a positive perspective and I’m fortunate enough to have lived my life half that way and half this way because it makes me appreciate the opportunities this country has to offer everyday. And it’s a big opportunity. I don’t take it for granted. Everything turned out for the better, and everything was worth it. My family is all here now, after trying for 5 or 6 years.”
