Adrian Grenier

It’s been nearly a decade since Entourage ended, but Adrian Grenier is still synonymous with its eponymous lead, Vincent Chase. He still looks like him. The natural course of aging seems to have skipped Adrian in the seven years since the show wrapped, but the similarities pretty much end there.

Adrian arrived to our shoot at the Montage in Beverly Hills early and on his own. He hung out with the crew, sipped an iced tea, and was a consummate professional—whether it meant perching on furniture while “acting natural” or swimming in a suit (about which he says, “I don’t want to lie and say that was a unique experience…. I have a lot of life in me”). OK, so maybe he is a bit like Vincent Chase. Or maybe it’s that he’s so drawn to the water.


After the photo session wrapped, Adrian and I had time to catch up. An actor/activist/documentarian/ producer/director/music manager and United Nations Environment Goodwill Ambassador, Adrian can be hard to keep up with. He’s in LA today and off to New York tomorrow. Asked if he considers Brooklyn home now, he says, “Well, it’s where I get my mail. It’s where my mom is. It’s where I grew up, but I really have business everywhere, so I consider myself omni-coastal.”

Asked where his favorite place in the world is, he answers, “Any place with a beach. Water. The ocean.” Not a secret admirer, Adrian’s been very public about his love of the ocean. He founded the Lonely Whale Foundation as “an incubator for courageous ideas that drive impactful market-based change on behalf of our ocean.”

With so many worthy causes to put his voice behind, he says he chose ocean conservation because “I’d really been trying to find the interconnectivity of all the causes, and I think the story is told in the ocean. The ocean literally affects everything and is the source of all life, and I really like to focus on root causes, not just band-aid fixes.”

He points out, “When you look at my work in the past, from health and wellness to food security and the environment, it’s all stuff that, if solved, will cure a host of other subsequent issues.”
