Priced at $600 for the trio, it’s a showcase of La Jota’s artistry, designed to captivate your senses and elevate your collection. This vintage, as described by La Jota’s skilled winemaker, Chris Carpenter, was marked by nature’s grace. It unveils deep, luscious notes of dark fruit, with hints of exotic Asian spice, grounded by the earthy allure of crushed gravel and a subtle toasty embrace. The wine’s opulent weight on the palate is gracefully balanced by soft tannins and a lingering, harmonious acidity. We recommend you add a touch of La Jota’s magic to your cellar. Plinth 2021 Houyi Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Gathering its name from the word meaning the base or foundation, Plinth Winery is becoming the cornerstone of elegance and structure with its 2021 Plinth Houyi Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. As the Changs put it masterfully “Every quality structure, artifact, and wine starts with and grows from its foundation, from where its beauty is rooted—the plinth.”
After arriving in California in 2010, they were enamored by the beauty of the Houyi Vineyard, elegantly perched on Pritchard Hill. It was there Nine Suns Winery and Houyi Vineyard were born, as they planted their entrepreneurial wine roots. Things rapidly gained momentum, and with passion and excitement, the winery gained acclaim far beyond the sun-soaked hills of Napa Valley.
In 2022, the Changs passed stewardship of the winery and vineyard to their longtime partners and friends, Realm Cellars. Their wine journey, though, was far from over. During those 12 years with Nine Suns, a budding interest in wine blossomed into a great reverence for wine’s distinct ‘somewhere-ness’ and the occasions and people that give the wine its meaningful relevance. This perspective on the meaning of a wine’s plinth inspired a brand devoted to both the land it grows from and the experiences over which it is shared.
Under the winemaking direction of Philippe Melka and its continued relationship with Realm Cellars, Plinth produces its own expression of Pritchard Hill with a very limited batch of Cabernet Sauvignon Houyi Vineyard wines and choreographs Bordeaux blends and white varietals that celebrate wine as a foundational element of a life well-lived.
