WEST ENCLAVE, A RITZ-CARLTON RESERVE RESIDENCE SPRINGS NEW LIFE IN LOS CABOS
Regulars to Los Cabos know the talk in town always centers on the latest and greatest restaurant or development. FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) runs wild as curious travelers peek over fences and inquire about every piece of excavated land, wondering if it will soon be the next best property in Cabo. In this case, the grass is greener.
West Enclave is a collection of 27 single-family homes built within the gates of Puerto Los Cabos in San Jose del Cabo. Buyers of these whole-ownership residences will enjoy Ritz-Carlton service, including anticipatory concierge service, inresidence dining, and a dedicated residential management team. Upon our arrival, Germán, the house concierge, greeted us with margaritas and fresh ceviche. Like most Five-Star resorts, the staff is poised and confident – always eager to go the extra mile to make a great experience. Well hydrated, we began our tour.
West Enclave estates are as expansive as they are stunning. Floor-to-ceiling windows are framed by exposed industrial beams. Stone tiles give an updated nod to the colors and materials of the surrounding hills and wood ceilings contrast the white walls adding warmth to the modern look. The floor plans are perfectly laid out to accommodate a multifamily group such as ours. The rooms have enough separation to give each family a sense of privacy without feeling detached from the heart of the home. Even with four adults and five kids among us, we felt like there was room for more.
The inside flows seamlessly to outdoors where a private pool, covered outdoor patio, stone bar, and outdoor fireplaces await. A large grassy area meets the edge of an elevated bluff and gives way to a panoramic view of the Sea of Cortez. A wooden staircase leads down to a secluded two-mile stretch of beach, but by the time we finished the tour, our glasses were empty, so the pool bar is where we stayed.
In Cabo the routine can be as simple or as spontaneous as you want. Most days we took on an ambitious schedule of poolside breakfast, beach time, margaritas, guacamole, and then more pool. However, with so many activities nearby, we had to book some adventures as well.
We connected with Niko at Spearfishing Baja to test our underwater breathing and see if we could bring back dinner. The boat picked us up at the Puerto Los Cabos Marina, and we set off for The Pacific. After speeding by El Arcos, we found our reef and geared up for the hunt. Truth be told, spearfishing is no day at the spa, but Niko’s eternal stoke was infectious and motivated even the most apprehensive of passengers (me). By the afternoon we all had a fish and a few stories, and we were ready to get back to the pool.
For a more relaxed outing, Puerto Los Cabos features two golf courses with a rare composite design by two of the sport’s most legendary figures – Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus. End the day at the links with a sunset sailboat cruise chartered by Albatros Los Cabos Sailaway. It’s hard to beat drinks and hors d’oeuvres at sea as a precursor to a night out.
When in Cabo, you can never go wrong with fish tacos and a bucket of beers. However, for a more unique experience, Flora Farms and newer Acre offer farm-to-table dining that is unforgettable. Only a few miles from West Enclave estates, these two restaurants are staples of Puerto Los Cabos living. After only a few nights, you’ll feel like a local.
West Enclave estates are currently on sale for $4.9 to $5.6 million. With Zadun, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve hotel opening in March 2019 and 65% of West Enclave residences already claimed, the appeal is clear. This is the new Cabo and the future is bright.
