Kevin Bacon is sick of the food jokes.
We’ve heard all the puns before… ”Bacon really sizzles in that scene.” Poor guy. Is his last name really Bacon? I wondered. – “My last name is definitely Bacon. When people ask me if I would have changed my name to Bacon, I think to myself, ‘what kind of an idiot would want to subject themselves to a lifetime of food jokes?’ When I was a kid, it was the first thing people said. Bacon and eggs. Oh, were you in the frying pan? I’m 62 years old and stil,l to this day, someone will inevitably come up to me and say `bacon, lettuce and tomato.’”
Cool, so that question was not original at all. Nice job, Kara. “Haha, no,” says Kevin, kindly. “I don’t get that particular question often, but I definitely did not change my name to Bacon. I was born with it. I thought about changing it from Bacon, actually.” Suddenly, I felt the wheels in my head turning. Nope, don’t do it, Kara, I thought. But it was too late. I couldn’t stop myself. “You know, if you ever get pigs on your farm upstate, you can name one Chris P.”
“A lot of people do these pig races and, inevitably, there is always one pig named Kevin Bacon and another named Jon Hamm,” says Kevin. Jon Hamm. Oh my god. A pun I hadn’t ever considered and which now has me questioning my entire existence up until this point. I wish I’d thought of this before our last cover.
