The Macallan 1926 is the world’s most expensive whisky.
How much is a story worth? On October 13th, the whisky world will find out. One incredibly special and extremely rare bottle of The Macallan will take center stage on the Sotheby’s auction block. Only 16 of the 40 bottles produced were ever made available to the world’s whisky elite. Only 11 bottles of this precious spirit still exist.
What makes The Macallan 1926 so special? Well, it’s not only The Macallan’s oldest release, it’s also a collaboration with two famous artists, Valerio Adami and Peter Blake, who designed the two iconic labels that adorn these very special bottles. The bottle coming up for auction features the Pater Blake designed label.
So, what does that mean for the liquid inside the bottle? It’s a celebration of 60 years of The Macallan flavor and whisky crafting experience. It’s also one of the last of The Macallan bottles you will find with distinct smoky flavor.
Poised to be the most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold, The Macallan 1926 is history in a bottle, and for a few lucky participants, we will find out in a few short days just how much. The 1926 has already broken the whisky auction record twice in 2018, both breaking the million-dollar mark. Will the record be broken again? The answer is almost undoubtedly so. Will the winner drink it, or will the legend live on for years to come? Only time will tell.
