Stephen and Jennifer McPherson aim to create the best wine in Napa Valley
For Stephen and Jennifer McPherson, wine making is an extension of who they are. Their passion stems from a promise Stephen made to his wife about one day pursuing his dream of making a world-class wine. Fast forward 15 years: after a successful career in entertainment that had left him somewhat depleted and (in his own words) “racing to nowhere,” he took the plunge, and alongside Jennifer, he aimed to create Promise Winery, the very best wine Napa and Sonoma have to offer. Their namesake cabernet is such a wine. First harvested in 2004, and having a great reverence for the first growths and other amazing wines of Bordeaux, this wine finds that magical tension between flavor, depth, balance, and structure. With very limited production, the wines are aging for 30 months in new barrels from the famed Darjanou & Tarransaud cooperages. The results are a classic Napa Cabernet with a voluptuous complexity. As they say: “Always drink the good stuff first.”
