Dolce & Gabbana has partnered with Donnafugata once again for the creation of Cuordilava, a mouthwatering red, and Isolano, Dolce & Gabbana’s first-ever white wine. Both of these productions were grown on the slopes of Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, which offers a unique habitat that gives life to flavor profiles of great personality. Here, the Sicilian sunshine combines with the high altitude of the vineyards, resulting in cooler temperatures. Thanks to the significant thermal excursion range and the extraordinary richness of the soil, the wines from this area acquire an unmistakable character.
Isolano comes from a selection of Carricante grapes from the vintage of 2019: a white wine with a refined bouquet with citrus scents, notes of blooming broom and aromatic herbs; volcanic and Mediterranean, and has an enveloping and mineral taste. Cuordilava is obtained from the vintage of 2017 of Nerello Mascalese grapes: a red wine of great elegance that, after a long period of aging, expresses intense notes of small red fruits, spices and underbrush; on the palate, it is broad and deep, with caressing tannins and a long persistence.
The excellence of Isolano and Cuordilava fits perfectly with the creativity of Dolce & Gabbana, who designed the labels – geometric motifs that recall the folklore of the Sicilian Cart, in red, green, blue, and yellow, intertwine with the representation of the Etna steaming, telling the beauty of the best tradition of the Island and the extraordinary uniqueness of its landscapes.
