The first thing that strikes a person about A.J. Brown is his physicality. The man is a mountain of muscle, standing 6 foot 1, and a reported 226 pounds of shredded, handsome physique. Clothes hang beautifully off his Adonis-like frame, and I note to myself that his arm is bigger than my leg. Despite his imposing physical presence, the next thing you notice about him is a warmth in his aura: his amazing smile, the loving, gentle way he speaks to his family, and the cool, laid-back vibes he exudes. Brown has flown all the way to the West Coast just for this special day, as ceaseless trade rumors swirl around the most in-demand player in pro football. Yet he remains perfectly calm in the eye of this proverbial storm; grounded and focused on the present moment.

The Nobleman photo shoot and interview take place at the gorgeous new luxury space at 700 Broadway in Santa Monica. Iconic sculptural design, tranquil coastal serenity, and panoramic rooftop views dominate the space. As mentioned, the much in-demand A.J. Brown flew to Los Angeles just for this meeting, and what a fine modern setting it is, placed right in the heartbeat of one of Southern California’s most coveted beach towns. We are surrounded by miles of pristine beaches, world-class surf, and year round temperate climate. On this particular Friday afternoon at golden hour, the warm Pacific sun cuts beams of light across the space dramatically, as A.J. makes his way into the room surrounded by his fiancée, a stylist, a publicist, various journalistic staff, and camera crew. It’s a larger audience than normal, as we settle in for our chat. OK, the stage has been set. Enough of the preamble. Time to dive into A.J. Brown’s all pro mindset – his playbook for life, luxury and leadership. Let’s explore how this unstoppable game changer became a winner on and off the field.

A.J., thank you for being here. You just did a photo shoot for Nobleman magazine. How was it?
It was good. Great staff, which made everything easy for me. I’ve done photo shoots before. The stylists did a great job, picking out some cool fits, things that I like to wear. So it was nice.
What would you consider your personal sense of style?
Something kind of relaxed. I like to say it’s my grown-up era; grown man. Nothing too crazy, just something relaxed. I like mixing a lot of colors. Just depends on how I’m feeling – maybe a cool pair of slacks and calm shirt. Nice watch. Nice loafers. I have a million pairs.
I just love loafers. I’m a shoe guy. It was tennis shoes, it was Nikes and all that. Now, it turned into loafers. I sold a lot of sneakers in my collection and now I try to just relax on the sneakers, and I’m going to have to tell myself to relax on the loafers now too. (Laughter).

The magazine is Nobleman, so I wanted to start our chat by asking: who has been a noble man in your life?
Easy answer for me. It’s my father. He’s been everything and more for me – a hero and an inspiration – and he’s been my best friend. He’s also been my toughest critic when I needed that. Just a man of integrity. Leads with integrity, and I can’t thank him enough. I wouldn’t be in this position than I am today without him. My dad always reminded me to remain humble, and not get in above my head. We expect great things to happen, but also just remember that everything comes from the Man Above.
