NOBLEMAN SUV of the Year: 2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ

Over the past year, we’ve spent more than a few thousand miles in SUVs of every size and flavor. Some were competent, some flashy, some promised more than they could deliver. After a week in the Cadillac Escalade IQ, driving from Orange County up to the Central Coast and back, it became clear this was the one that stood above them all. Comfortable, capable, luxurious, and just effortless enough to make a long road trip genuinely enjoyable, it earned the title of NOBLEMAN SUV of the Year.

The first thing that hits you stepping inside is how calm it feels. The interior is Camelia with Backen Black, a warm modern tan paired with deep accent tones that give the cabin a sophisticated but approachable feel. It’s the kind of color that feels good to the touch, even after hours of driving. The seats are supportive and spacious. The second row has room for adults to stretch, and the third row comfortably fits three. Everyone has their own corner of comfort, whether it’s the kids in the back or a friend relaxing on a long trip.

Technology is integrated without overwhelming the senses. The sweeping curved display across the dashboard feels like it was designed to be looked at, but never fiddled with unnecessarily. Navigation, media, vehicle settings, and energy management are clear, responsive, and intelligently laid out. The head-up display is perfectly positioned, giving the driver the right information at a glance without distraction. Light pours in through the fixed panoramic glass roof, turning even a routine highway stretch into a more enjoyable, almost scenic experience.

Practicality and convenience are where the Escalade IQ surprises. Cadillac’s power door system allows the driver to open or close all four doors with a simple press of a button. It may sound like a small thing, but once you’ve used it on a busy day with kids and luggage, you realize it changes the rhythm of getting in and out of the car. The front trunk, or eTrunk, is massive, over 12 cubic feet, and becomes unexpectedly useful on weekend trips, hauling golf bags, gym equipment, or groceries without interfering with passenger space. Behind the third row, the cargo area expands dramatically when the seats fold flat, giving you a vehicle that can carry nearly anything.

Performance is a mix of surprise and reassurance. The dual-motor all-wheel drive produces 750 horsepower and 785 lb.-ft of torque in Velocity Max. That translates to a 0–60 time of 4.7 seconds, which is genuinely impressive for a vehicle of this size. Acceleration is smooth, composed, and confidence-inspiring. Even fully loaded for a road trip, the Escalade IQ never feels strained or heavy. It moves like it’s meant to be driven, not just admired.

Range is another revelation. Cadillac estimates 465 miles per charge, and during our weeklong drive, we consistently saw closer to 500. That kind of real-world range changes the way you plan trips. Stops for charging are no longer a necessity, which gives you freedom to focus on the drive itself. You can take detours, explore wineries, or chase the sunset along the coast without worrying about logistics.

Handling surprises for a vehicle this size. Four-wheel steering tightens the turning radius dramatically, making tight streets, crowded parking lots, and hotel entrances easy to navigate. Despite being a large SUV, the IQ never feels cumbersome in everyday situations. The adaptive air suspension smooths rough roads and keeps the cabin composed, isolating passengers from bumps and imperfections. Driving it along the coast, past vineyards and coastal cliffs, the ride was never distracted from the scenery. It simply lets you enjoy it.

Autodrive, Cadillac’s hands-free driving system, sets a new standard. Unlike Tesla, you do not have to nudge the wheel every few seconds to stay engaged. It holds lanes, manages curves, changes lanes smoothly, and allows you to genuinely relax. On long stretches of Highway 101, it became a reliable co-pilot, letting me enjoy the drive rather than constantly monitoring it. It’s the kind of technology that feels thoughtful rather than forced.

The exterior has been completely reimagined. The Escalade IQ sheds some of the bulk of past models for cleaner, sharper lines. From certain angles, it evokes a Range Rover’s poise while remaining distinctly Cadillac. It looks purposeful and modern, and the design cues signal refinement without requiring an oversized footprint to do it. At the same time, it still feels like a large, full-size SUV, offering both presence and practicality.

Life in the Escalade IQ extends beyond the drive itself. Grocery runs feel lighter. Picking up friends or family is a smoother experience. Long trips with luggage, gear, or kids become less stressful. Even parking, which can intimidate some large SUVs, is effortless thanks to the steering and camera systems. Every feature feels like it was considered with real life in mind, not just to impress on paper.

By the end of our week, the Escalade IQ had proven itself repeatedly. Comfort rivals the best luxury brands. Technology is intuitive. Space is generous and functional. Performance is smooth, powerful, and confidence-inspiring. Every thoughtful detail enhances the experience. From the power doors to the panoramic roof, the front trunk, and the Autodrive system. After testing so many competitors over the past year, nothing else came close. This is the vehicle we recommend without hesitation. It is the NOBLEMAN SUV of the Year.

The Escalade IQ proves that an American electric SUV can combine size, luxury, and capability without compromise. It is comfortable enough for long road trips, refined enough for urban streets, and practical enough for families. After a year of testing nearly every relevant SUV, the choice was clear. Cadillac has created something rare, capable, and enjoyable.
