As menswear embraces new style changes this year, the most convincing prediction is the transition of dressing for success. Over the last few runway seasons, I have shockingly witnessed just about everything a circus has to offer to an audience seeking outrageous entertainment. It seems to me that an abundant number of brands have either lost touch with reality or simply diverted down the wrong style path. Whatever the reason, don’t buy into it. The cruel truth is that the vast majority of well-dressed men aim to look mature and polished. Henceforth, the question remains, why are the unexpected fine-tailored items on the rise once again? I would think that because most men feel confident by wearing a well-put-together look for both office time and leisure time.
In the fashion industry today, noteworthy editors, influencers and buyers are not necessarily seeing eye-to-eye. From my perspective, trying to decode today’s runway looks is not an easy task. I often find myself searching for clues to what the heck just happened? In present times, there seems to be an array of cultural changes, taking into consideration what has been happening around the world. I’d further like to point out that this upcoming year, the menswear industry is on edge. More to my point, it is the industry itself that is guilty as charged.
If you wish to prosper in menswear, then make apparel that consumers would like to wear. It’s that simple. If you ask me, brands that exercise fine tailoring along with the sophisticated integration of workwear and leisurewear–seem to be right on the money. I believe that this intermix where heritage meets modernity will be the style hybrid of the future.
Upon reviewing the Canali 2022 collection, I could not help but notice that the brand underwent some serious modifications of the brand’s heritage. There is a charming individuality by a subtle personalization to finely crafted details. Overall, when I reviewed the style alone, I can tell you with the utmost confidence that Canali is having a very good moment in 2022.
A welcoming starting point to a more adventurous wardrobe is understanding the cultural landscape of now. After having endured the global pandemic, people wish to convey a feeling of reflection and change. The way I see it, 2022 is not a sartorially modest year. Appearing in abundance is new color such as a softer palette of pinks, bold yellow, even mint greens, and purple. In addition to the more passive tones, punchy colors are a nice alternative that lends a feeling of power and strength like a call to arms!
The new collection is inspired by Los Angeles in the 1990s. The Italian luxury brand leans into the multifaceted atmospheres of the region such as its magnificent sunrise and sunsets, perfectly juxtaposed oceans and hills as well as many diverse neighborhoods drenched in pride.

This season alone, shoulders are made with perfect precision cuts made with a modern geometrical style that looks befitting for today’s man. *In my opinion, a responsible structured shoulder instantly adds a hefty dose of power to a man’s silhouette and is the best fit to give you a boost of self-confidence. It is this self-confidence that is creeping its way back to the runway that I am enthusiastic about.
The most visible shift in Canali today is a compelling more relaxed interpretation of menswear dressing. The ingenuity of the collection not only focuses on modern flair by way of playing with contrasting textures, color palettes, and masculine design but rather capitalizes on proper fit, balance, and proportion. It is a fact that tailored suits have been put through a lot over the last few decades. On the topic of tailoring, there has been renowned interest in fit and body, which hints at tailoring’s next evolution by injecting modernity optimism, and vitality. These unexpected combinations introduce a subtle laid-back elegance by highlighting details thus creating unexpected combinations fit for modern times.
Canali’s reinterpreted style choice enhances the search for details that it conveys through high sartorial tradition.
