An East Coast Mainstay Is Now a West Coast Revelation
When Steve Di Fillippo envisioned his now eponymous brand, Davio’s, the dream and the vision of a West Coast location was probably a far-fetched idea. This idea is now a reality with the newest location of the Northern Italian cuisine establishment, in Irvine, CA. Located in the heart of the well-traveled business district, it has now become a favorite of the lunch crowd, in addition to its bustling happy hour.
Davio’s is a throwback to when service and attention to details truly mattered in hospitality. The restaurant itself is a spacious, (nearly 10,000sq. ft.) and beautifully appointed space, bright and airy, with an air of formality, yet remains comfortable and welcoming. One of the great features of the design is the kitchen bar, which gives you an unobstructed view of the busy kitchen, and allows you to observe the choreographed madness that is a working kitchen! A beautifully appointed bar, with an extensive wine list, and curated cocktails that will keep you coming back for more. The restaurant also features several partitioned rooms, perfect for private affairs of any sizes.
The service is also an area where the restaurant shines, with its wait staff, smartly dressed in white coats, adorned with Davio’s logo. Your water glass is empty? Fear not, it will be filled up promptly. Need another basket of perfectly baked bread? (whipped up on the premises) It magically appears on your table. All this with a smile, and a straightforward manner that tells you a little bit about the restaurant’s philosophy, “All About The Guest,” established by Mr. Di Fillippo. General Manager, Yurii Barajas keeps this awesome place humming, while still greeting his guests by their name (a trick that I am sure Mr. Barajas won’t reveal…)
The “raison d’être” of any great restaurant has to be its food, and Davio’s doesn’t disappoint. Everything is made by hand from the best and freshest ingredients. The extensive menu ranges from aged steaks to simple-yet-unique pasta creations, all cooked to perfection on the grill under the supervision of Executive Chef, Istvan Toth. NOBLEMAN had the opportunity to taste the fabulous fare, and needless to say, it was as delicious as advertised. We highly recommend the Oven Baked Lump Crab Cake, and the Oyster Rockefeller to start, followed by the Hand-Rolled Potato Gnocchi, which we couldn’t get in fast enough! Any visit to Davio’s has to include their steaks. One of our favorites is a perfectly grilled, Prime Aged New York Strip, which will melt in your mouth. Enjoy it with a side of Broccoli Rabe, and, if you want to live on the wild side, a delicious helping of their Mac & Cheese with white truffle oil. Moreover, because this is an Italian joint, after all, finish this decadent meal with one of their sinful desserts.
Davio’s is the perfect place for a romantic dinner for two or a celebration with fifty people. Davio’s Northern Italian Cuisine is open for lunch, dinner and happy hour. Complimentary parking during lunch & dinner in the parking lot in front of the restaurant is available daily. They also offer valet services.
